Information on parliamentary scrutiny

On 26 February 2015 the delegation of the Committee on European Affairs held exchange of views with Ms Commissioner Vera Jourová regarding the state of play of the negotations of the EPPO.
The Committee on European Affairs of the Hungarian National Assembly decided to launch scrutiny procedure on the legislative proposal on its meeting of 9 March 2015.

The Committee on Justice has been asked to build opinion on the EU draft.

The state of play of the negotatiations as well as the key elements of the discussions were on the agenda of the Committee on European Affairs on 13 April 2015. The exposé was held by the Government Commissioner from the Ministry of Justice.

The Committee on Justice discussed in detail the key elements of the porposal on its meeting of 11 May 2015 and elaborated its opinion which was forwarded to the Committee on European Affairs.
During the meeting of the Committee on European Affairs of 9 November 2015, the state of play of the EU decision-making process as well as the Hungarian Government's position were highlighted by the Government Commissioner from the Ministry of Justice.

On 5 December 2016 Ms Commissioner Vera Jourová held an open exchange of views regarding the state of play of the negotations of the EPPO with the Members of the Hungarian National Assembly in the framework of the meeting of the Committee on European Affairs.
Following the debate the Committee on European Affairs adopted its standpoint on the governmental position pertaining to the EU draft on its meeting of 5 December 2016. In course of its meeting the representative of the Government gave an oral brief on the goals of the draft and highlighted the main elements of its negotiating position.

The Committee on European Affairs discussed the proposal on its meeting of 18 September 2017. The key points of the proposal and the standpoint of the Government were highlighted by the State Secretary for European and International Judicial Cooperation of the Ministry of Justice.

24/10/2013 | RO regarding the EPPO of the Hungarian National Assembly (October 2013)
The proposal regarding the estalishment of the European Public Prosecutor's Office was debated by the Committee on European Affairs  on its meeting of 23 September 2013 following the presentation of  Mr. Péter Csonka, Adviser of the DG Justice, European Commission as well as of the representative of the Ministry of Public Administration and Justice.
The Committee on European Affairs adopted a Reasoned Opinion on its meeting of 14 October. The Constitutional, Judicial and Standing Orders Committee endorsed the Reasoned Opinion which was debated by the plenary on 14 and 15 October.
The Reasoned Opinion of the Hungarian National Assembly was adopted on the plenary meeting of 21 October 2013.
The figures of the votes at the Országgyülés are the following: 280 in favour, 27 against, 1 abstention.
