The Committee on European Affairs at its meeting on 30 October 2013 decided to ask the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee for draft opinion on that proposal for a regulation. Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee at its meeting on 27 November 2013 agreed with the preliminary opinion of the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak republic along with the following amendment: “The Slovak Republic expresses it doubts about the compliance of the proposal with the principle of subsidiarity in accordance with Art. 5, paragraph 3 of the Treaty on the European Union, as neither the necessity to act at the European level in the form of the establishment of the European Public Prosecutor´s Office, nor the real benefit of establishing this office is sufficiently proven, particularly with regard to the problems that might arise in connection with its setting up and functioning.” The Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee recommends the Committee on European Affairs of the National Council of the Slovak Republic to approve the submitted preliminary opinion along with the amendment.
