Committee on Finance discussed the proposal at its 5th meeting of 19 February  2019.

Committee on EU Affairs discussed the proposal again at its 32nd meeting of 22 February  2019 and adopted the following Position:

The Republic of Slovenia supports the proposed amendments to Council Directive 2006/112/EC of 28 November 2006 with a view to supplementing the rules laid down in Council Directive (EU) 2017/2455 of 5 December 2017 as regards certain value added tax obligations for supplies of services and distance sales of goods, in order to enable a proper implementation of this Directive and to prevent additional administrative burdens and costs for taxable persons in the event of the sales of goods through a web interface. The Republic of Slovenia also supports the harmonisation of the rules of the special arrangement for registration and payment of import VAT carried out by the customs authorities with the rules of the Union Customs Code.

In the procedures for the adoption of the Proposal within EU institutions, the Republic of Slovenia will strive for measures that will ease the burden on businesses and will be easy to implement, while at the same time ensuring transparency of operations and efficient supervision by the tax authority.
