Information on parliamentary scrutiny

At its 2nd extraordinary meeting of 21 November 2008, the Committee on EU Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia adopted - in relation to Proposal for a Directive of the European parliament and of the Council amending Directives 2006/48/EC and 2006/49/EC as regards banks affiliated to central institutions, certain own funds items, large exposures, supervisory arrangements, and crisis management- the following Position of the Republic of Slovenia:
Slovenia welcomes proposal from Commission. During the Council's consideration of the proposal, Slovenia will represent and defend an opinion, that the proposal should adequately recognize and regulate the role of a national supervisor, as well as an opinion that rights of shareholders of subsidiaries and policy holders should be respected.
Slovenia will represent and defend the adequate allocation of supervisory powers between the host and consolidated supervisor. Slovenia will defend a position that the host supervisor takes a decision regarding the systematically relevant branch, bank's additional capital and the attending the college of supervisors. As regards the conditions of securitization, Slovenia will defend the importance of quantitive criteria, beside qualitative.
