This proposal was considered at the Joint Committee on European Scrutiny meeting of 24th March 2009 [item 8.1 – taken in conjunction with COM(2008)810]:

While one proposal (COM (2008) 809) is purely technical and does not warrant further scrutiny, the other proposal (COM (2008) 810) in the important area of waste management in respect of electrical equipment does raise some concerns for Ireland and therefore does warrant further scrutiny. It was therefore agreed to forward these proposals to the Joint Committee on Environment, Heritage and Local Government for written observations to be returned to this Committee preferably within 4 weeks of the date of this meeting and within 6 weeks at the latest.
Observations were received from the Joint Committee on Environment, Heritage and Local Government on 13th May 2009. That Committee sought supplementary information from the Department on these proposals and were satisfied with the approach being taken by the Department and that no further scrutiny is required at this time. It was subsequently agreed at the Joint Committee on European Scrutiny meeting of 26th May 2009 to note the correspondence.
