In its session of 22 May 2014, the German Bundestag approved a Resolution stating that:

"...The German Bundestag calls on the Federal Government to strive during the negotiations on the proposal presented by the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union to ensure that an opt-out is possible at any time, without a requirement to provide new objective reasons, since the Member States must have the power to revise previous decisions regarding opt-outs after changes of government etc. The sovereignty of national governments and parliaments would otherwise be unacceptably restricted..."
