Information on parliamentary scrutiny

This proposal was considered at the meeting of the Joint Committee on Jobs, Social Protection and Education on 9th November 2011. It was agreed that this proposal warrants further scrutiny. It was also agreed that such further scrutiny takes the form of this Committee writing to the Department asking for - An indication of the expected timeframe for negotiations Further updates as to progress on all issues raised at the Working Group negotiations (including those raised by our Data Protection Commissioner) An update on the legal advice received (if any) regarding the resources issues Calls for an Impact Statement to be carried out, and what replies (if any) are received Information on how many Member States have examined the subsidiarity issue with this proposal, if any reasoned opinions were submitted, and what responses (if any) were issued. Initial information suggests 7 parliaments raised concerns, and the UK formed a reasoned opinion A description / more detail as to what information is to be shared on the expanded IMI Advice on what funding will the expanded system cost the State It was also agreed that the Minister's opinion be sought when he attends at this Committee later this month prior to his Council of Ministers' meeting on 5/6 December 2011
