Information on parliamentary scrutiny
Referred to the Senate Committee on Finance and Treasure, with opinions solicited from the European Union Policies Committee, the Foreign Affairs and Emigration Committee, the Judiciary Committee and the Industry Committee. On 7 November 2012 the 14th Senate Standing Committee expressed a favourable opinion with the following qualifications: 1) a risk-based approach should be adopted, for the sake of investor protection; 2) further consideration should be given to the delegated power conferred on European supervisory authorities; 3) the Italian translation is inaccurate.
Following failure of the Finance Committee to issue an opinion within 15 days of receiving the EU Policies Committee's opinion, the EU Policies Committee closed scrutiny on 18 December 2012. Its previous opinion was thus upgraded to resolution status and transmitted to the Government under Senate Rule 144(5).
