Information on parliamentary scrutiny

The Committee on the Economy discussed the proposal at its 44th extraordinary meeting of 4 February 2014.

And at it's 93rd meeting of 7 February 2014 the Committee on EU Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia adopted the following Position:

The Republic of Slovenia supports in principle the European Commission's efforts aimed at protecting the investments in the knowledge base, reducing costly fragmentation, and making Europe a more rewarding place for innovation. The Republic of Slovenia considers the European Commission's approach in the form of a Proposal for a Directive to be the appropriate manner for establishing uniform rules as regards the protection of undisclosed know-how and business information (trade secrets) against their unlawful acquisition, use and disclosure in all Member States. Its aim is to improve effectiveness of the legal protection of trade secrets against misappropriation throughout the Internal Market.

In view of the need to examine the text in more detail, we express a scrutiny and linguistic reservation on the Proposal.
