The Committee on Justice discussed the proposal at its 33rd extraordinary meeting of 27 January 2014.

And at it's 91st meeting of 31 January 2014 the Committee on EU Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia adopted the following Position:

The Republic of Slovenia welcomes the Proposal for a Directive and will strive for the adoption thereof. The Proposal establishes minimum standards on the rights of children who are suspected or accused in criminal proceedings and of children subject to European arrest warrant proceedings (Framework Decision 2002/584/JHA). The objective of the proposal is that children in the proceedings are recognised and treated with respect, professionalism and sensitivity by the competent authorities in the framework of criminal proceedings. The Proposal treats children in a non-discriminatory manner, including with regard to their residential status. A successful implementation of the Directive will facilitate the reintegration of children after being confronted with the criminal justice system.
