Information on parliamentary scrutiny

On 10 November 2020 the Immigration & Asylum / JHA-Council committee decided tot scrutinise all proposals concerning the Migration and Asylum pact. They decided to have an oral consultation with the State Secretary of Security and Justice on 1 December 2020 and a technical briefing from the European Commission which took place on 24 November 2020. After the oral consultation the committee has the intention to provide input for written consultation with the government. Furthermore, the committee would like to organise an expert meeting in the longer term.

On 8 December 2020 the committee decided to make an agreement with the State Secretary for Justice and Security about the provision of information on the migration and asylum pact. The letter to the State Secretary was send on 16 December 2020 and was replied by the State Secretary on 18 December 2020. The committee took note of the letter on 12 January 2021. On 12 January 2021, the committee also decided that it will deliver input for a written consultation concerning the New Pact on Migration and Asylum on 9 February 2021.

On 26 January 2021 the Immigration & Asylum/JHA-Council committee have put together a list of experts in the field of immigration and asylum. The experts will be invited to an expert meeting of the committe to be held on 2 and 23 March 2021.

On 9 February 2021 the Party for Freedom provided input for written consultation on the proposals in the New Pact on Migration and Asylum. Another opportunity to provide input for written consultation will be organised after the expert meetings that will take place on 2 and 23 March 2021.

On 13 September 2016 the committee for Immigration and Asylum / Justice and Home Affairs discussed the proposal and decided to hold written deliberations with the Dutch government on the proposal. Input was delivered on 11 October 2016, and the letter was sent to the government on 27 October 2016.

On 24 November 2016 the government replied. On 29 November 2016 the committee for Immigration and Asylum / Justice and Home Affairs discussed the reply and decided to took notice of it.

The committee for Immigration and Asylum / Justice and Home Affairs requested a briefing with the European Commission on the Common European Asylum System, which has been provided bij the Commission on 31 Januari 2017 during a video conference.

On 21 February 2017, the committee for Immigration and Asylum/Justice and Home Affairs held an oral consultation with the state secretary for Security and Justice about the Common European Asylum System.

On 7 March 2017 the committee for Immigration and Asylum/Justice and Home Affairs discussed the oral consultation and decided to continue monitoring the revision of the Common European Asylum System.

On 13 February 2018 the the committee for Immigration and Asylum/Justice and Home Affairs sent a letter to the state secretary for Justice and Security requesting a technical briefing and an oral consultation concerning the common European asylum system. On 20 February 2018, the technical briefing took place.

On 9 April 2018, the state secretary for Justice and Security sent a letter informing the committee on the current state of affairs concerning the common European asylum system in preparation of the planned oral consultation on 17 April 2018.

In an oral consultation session on 17 April 2018, the committee for Immigration & Asylum / Justice and Home Affairs debated with the state secretary of Justice and Security on the current state of affairs of the common European asylum system.
