The Committee for European Affairs at its 67th meeting on 6/1/2017 by Resolution No. 396

 

1.         takes into account the Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council to empower the competition authorities of the Member States to be more effective enforcers and to ensure the proper functioning of the internal market, COM(2017)142, Council Code 7621/17;

2.         takes into account the Government’s Framework Position from 29 May 2017 to the Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council to empower the competition authorities of the Member States to be more effective enforcers and to ensure the proper functioning of the internal market, COM(2017)142, Council Code 7621/17;

3.         considers that the protection against the penalties for participating in the secret cartel, which is provided in Article 22 of the draft Directive, for existing and former employees and directors of companies requesting immunity from leniency programs, is set too broadly and should be somehow limited.
