Information on parliamentary scrutiny

The Committee on the Economy discussed the proposal at its 50th extraordinary meeting of 9 June 2017.

The Committee on EU Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia discussed the proposal at it’s 132nd meeting of 16 June 2017 and adopted the following Position:

In principle, the Republic of Slovenia supports the Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council to empower the competition authorities of the Member States to be more effective enforcers and to ensure the proper functioning of the internal market (hereinafter: Proposal for a Directive). However, the Republic of Slovenia points out that Article 1, individual definitions contained in Article 2, standards of proof referred to in Articles 6 and 7, the imposition of fines referred to in Article 12, and general provisions of Articles 28 and 29 of the Proposal for a Directive are unclear and undetermined, while, in particular, the provisions are not sufficiently explained in the introductory provisions of the Proposal, or are, in certain parts, disproportionate to the objective of the directive. The provisions must be designed so that they are clear, precise and proportionate and they do not excessively interfere with the national law. The Republic of Slovenia will be able to support the text of the said articles once they are properly revised or amended.
