Committee on the Interior, Public Administration and Local Self-Government discussed the proposal at its 46th meeting of 21 March 2018.

The Committee on EU Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia discussed the proposal again at it’s 167th meeting of 23 March 2018 and adopted the following Position:

The Republic of Slovenia supports the adoption of a new Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on establishing a framework for interoperability between EU information systems (borders and visa) and amending Council Decision 2004/512/EC, Regulation (EC) No 767/2008, Council Decision 2008/633/JHA, Regulation (EU) 2016/399 and Regulation (EU) 2017/2226. It believes that the proposed changes will improve information sharing and provide end-users with an easier access to all relevant information.

When negotiating the proposal for a regulation, Slovenia will proceed from the protection of fundamental human rights and will observe the principles of personal data protection, in particular the principle of proportionality.
