The documents No. 7172/18 and 7173/18 were submitted to the Chamber of Deputies on 3/15/2018.

The Committee for European Affairs decided on 3/28/2018 by its Resolution No. 68 to deliberate on the documents and appointed the Member Mr. Jaroslav Bžoch as rapporteur.

The Committee for European Affairs at its 11th meeting on 5/9/2018 by Resolution No. 75


1. takes into account the Communication from the Commission to the European Parliament and the Council - Adapting the common visa policy to new challenges /Council Code 7172/18, COM(2018)251 final/ and the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 establishing a Community Code on Visas (Visa Code) /Council Code 7173/18, COM(2018)252 final) and agrees with the proposal for a further direction of the common visa policy;

2. supports the positions of the Government of the Czech Republic on these documents from 4 March and 5 April 2018;

3. supports changes that will lead to better identification of applicants, in particular through the interconnection of VIS, ETIAS and EES systems, and the proposed changes to the Visa Code, in particular the possibility of targeted negative visa incentives for non-cooperating countries in the field of readmission of illegal migrants;

4. calls on the Government of the Czech Republic to inform the European Affairs Committee and the Subcommittee on Migration and Asylum Policy about the progress and outcome of the discussiosn of these documents in the EU bodies.
