Information on parliamentary scrutiny

On 20 March 2018, the Committee on Immigration & Asylum / Justice and Home Affairs Council (I&A/JHA) decided to await the document containing the governments view in order to involve it in the consideration of whether or not to enter into (written) consultations with the government and/or the European institutions.

On 15 May 2018, the committee discussed the proposals COM(2018)251 and COM(2018)252 and decided to engage in written consultations with the government. The contribution date was set on 29 May 2018.

On 29 May 2018, the GreenLeft-party (GroenLinks) and the Party for Freedom (PVV) provided input for written consultations with the government. On 5 June 2018, a letter was sent to the government. The government sent a letter on 16 July 2018 in response.

On 10 July 2018, the committee discussed the report of a written consultation with the State Secretary for Justice and Security on the amendment of the Community Code on Visas and decided to enter into further written consultations with the Government. The GreenLeft Party (GroenLinks) indicated that it would provide input for further written consultations. A letter was sent to the Minister of Foreign Affairs on 16 July 2018. A copy of this letter was sent to the State Secretary for Justice and Security. The Minister of Foreign Affairs responded on 7 September 2018, also on behalf of the State Secretary for Justice and Security.

On 11 September 2018, the committee discussed the report of a further written consultation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the State Secretary for Justice and Security and decided to keep this item on the agenda until 2 October 2018.

On 2 October 2018, the committee decided to take notice of the government's response.
