13/12/2018 | Resolution
On 5 December 2018 the Agriculture and Agrifood Production Committee adopted a favourable resolution with qualifications, instructing the Government to table the following issues during negotiations:
1)    extending the scope of the proposal to all agricultural products and all suppliers;
2)    amending articles 2, 3 and 4 as described in the resolution;
3)    regulating procedures in front of enforcement authorities;
4)    enabling representative organizations to file a complaint and take part in the proceedings on behalf of one or more of their members;
5)    envisaging the possibility to use mediation mechanisms or alternative means of dispute resolution.
With particular reference to Italy, the Government is urged to vest enforcement of the directive into the existing Market and Competition Authority and to strengthen its agrifood office.
