Information on parliamentary scrutiny

On 24 April 2018, the committee for Immigration & Asylum / Justice and Home Affairs (I&A/JHA) discussed the proposal and decided to engage in written consultations with the government concerning the legal basis opted for this proposal by the European Commission. The contribution date was set on 22 May 2018 and a letter was sent on 9 May 2018.

On 26 June 2018, the government sent a letter responding to the questions concerning the legal basis of the proposal. On 3 July 2018, the committee for Immigration & Asylum / Justice and Home Affairs discussed the letter from the government and decided to wait for the vote in the Tweede Kamer regarding their parliamentary scrutiny reservations.

On 3 July 2018, the committee discussed the report of the written consultation with the government on the chosen legal basis of the proposal and decided to keep the item on the agenda until 10 July 2018 in connection with the vote in the House of Representatives of the Parliament on 3 July 2018 on the termination of the parliamentary scrutiny reservation. 

On 10 July 2018, the committee discussed the retained report of the written consultation with the government on the draft regulation and decided to accept the government's letter for notification.
