Committee on Infrastructure and Spatial Planning discussed the proposal at its 5th extraordinary meeting of 27 February 2019.

Committee on EU Affairs discussed the proposal again at its 33rd meeting of 1 March 2019 and adopted the following Position:

In principle, the Republic of Slovenia supports the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on common rules ensuring basic air connectivity with regard to the withdrawal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the Union – 15788/18.

The Republic of Slovenia considers that it is necessary to ensure, in the context of the consideration of the Proposal, that the measures are merely temporary and that the Proposal does not mean that air traffic rights of the sovereign EU Member States are transferred to the competence of the European Union.

The Republic of Slovenia believes that it is necessary to provide a higher number of frequencies to those European Union airlines that had a low number of weekly frequencies in the previous IATA winter/summer season of 2018 as referred to in the second paragraph of Article 3 of the Proposal, but it is possible to expect that this number could rise.
